Begin with their favourite cup
For someone who orders matcha lattes, matcha is a natural place to start. If they enjoy toasted flavours, consider hojicha, a roasted green tea powder, or genmaicha, which combines green tea with roasted rice. All three contain caffeine.
Hanacha’s gift set lets you choose one, two or three 30 g tins. Choose a favourite more than once, or include different teas to explore. At 2 g per cup, a 30 g tin provides about 15 servings; a stronger latte will use more tea.
Choose a bowl they will use
A matcha bowl needs room for the whisk to move freely. Our Fresh Snow and Blushed Garden bowls are Mino ware pottery from Gifu, Japan. Fresh Snow has a soft white glaze; Blushed Garden brings floral detail to the tea table.
Both bowls should be hand washed and are unsuitable for a dishwasher or microwave. Include the care instructions, especially if the recipient is new to Japanese pottery.
Check what comes in the box
Every Hanacha gift set includes the chosen bowl and teas, a bamboo whisk, bamboo tea scoop (chashaku) and preparation booklet. Choose a warm cream or deep green magnetic presentation box.
A whisk stand is a separate accessory that supports the whisk’s shape while it dries. The bamboo tea scoop is for scooping; a kitchen scale is useful for measuring a consistent portion.
Plan for the occasion
Check the selected combination’s availability before ordering. Delivery within Australia is calculated before payment. If the gift is needed for a particular date, contact Hanacha before ordering so timing can be confirmed.
For a first-time matcha drinker, the included booklet makes the gift easier to begin using. For someone who already has the tools, individual tea tins or a bowl may be a better fit.
